artist statement

My work explores the connections between visual art, the nuances of the moving body, and the unique individuality of each dancer I work with. I craft my dances through a conscious use of space, proximity, and strokes of bodily geometry. I investigate how to be influenced by visual art while still highlighting the human experience. I am intrigued by the lives of lines, both in a studio space and within a dancer's personal history. I am infatuated with the aesthetic of physicality in motion. My research is focused on how I can support this visually-driven way of making by utilizing each dancer’s personal narrative, emotions, and the unique ways they navigate the terrain of their body.
